How to remove rust stains from clothing

When disassembling an old beach umbrella, I unknowingly pressed the bottom of the pole against my bathing suit which resulted in a nasty rust stain. Here is how I got the stain out!

Here is the nasty rust stain. Ugh!

Boil a small pot of water.

Remove pot from heat and lay clothing over pot so steam flows through the stain.

Pour lemon juice directly on the stain and let sit for 3-5 minutes. I don't think it matters if you squeeze the juice from a lemon or use bottled lemon juice.

Now we wait.

Rinse the stain under cold water to remove the lemon juice.

As you can see, it definitely reduced the stain, but didn't make it disappear. If this happens to you, just repeat the previous steps again.

Second attempt.

This is what it looked like after two tries. Don't give up hope yet! You're almost there!

Now that you've applied lemon juice twice, it's time to apply a professional stain remover (like Shout) and wash with cold water and laundry detergent. Air dry. If stain remains, repeat guide.

Ta-da! Nasty rust stain is gone! Yay!
